PRINCESS ALEXANDRA BURSARY

Please note the application deadline for 2024 is June 30th.

introduction

The Queen’s Own Rifles of Canada Princess Alexandra Bursary was created by the Regiment in 2010 as a lasting gift to HRH Princess Alexandra in recognition of her 50 years’ service as our Colonel-in-Chief.

There are 3 types of bursary available most years:

1.    A regular bursary, open to all applicants. The value each year will be dependent on the number of successful applicants and the funds available.

2.    The Sergeant Aubrey Cosens, VC bursary may be awarded up to twice annually, only to a currently serving member of the Regiment who demonstrates leadership skills and tactical & technical proficiency as recognized by their superiors. The value of each bursary is dependent on the funds available.

3.    The Colonel and Mrs. PF Hughes, CD bursary may be awarded annually, only to a currently serving member of the Regiment.  Applicants for this bursary are instructed to write a one-page (500 word) essay giving an overview of one of the Regiment’s battle honours.  The value of the bursary is dependent on the funds available.

To apply for a bursary, please join the 1860 Club and log in to the member’s portal, and select “Bursary Application” from the navigation bar.
